The Biggest Shopping Day of the Year!

Today is the day after Thanksgiving and we all know what that means - deals deals deals! It's shopping day!

I must admit I will not be fighting the mobs this morning because I have nearly everything purchased on my list for my Christmas gifts - BUT if there was an item I needed on my list at a rock bottom price I would be venturing out! And I know for many of you - you thoroughly enjoy the excitement in the air and the deals! Deals are a good thing!

As a matter of fact the Proverbs 31 lady is described in verse 14 like this: "She is like the merchant ships, bringing her food from afar..." In verse 16 it says "She considers a field and buys it." and in verse 18 "She sees that her trading is profitable" and in verse 24 "she makes linen garments and sells them, and supplies the merchants with sashes.

The Proverbs 31 lady is very busy in the area of trade and commerce. Verse 14 says she is like a merchant ship - bringing her food from afar. This shows that she takes special care in bringing in the best for her family. She doesn't do what is closest and easiest. She is willing to travel far and look hard for what is the best for her family - whether that includes flavor, nutrition or bulk.

"She sees that her trading is profitable." She makes sure she has the best deal! She is very wise in her purchases and isn't wasteful.

So as we shop this Christmas season - we must remember the bar that God has set for us women. We must be wise in our purchases and willing to look at shopping as hard work. It may be hard work to run from store to store finding the best prices or a product that is most useful to a loved one - but it is a worthy and noble task. So shop to the glory of God girls!

OK, so I ventured out & was quite stressed by the time I got home...I guess I should look at it as working hard to use my money wisely to find a bargain. I was worthy & noble...Will I do it again next year?...... I will have to get back with you on that one! =*)

Marina - you made me laugh! Shopping is work. For every mom who juggles newborns and preschoolers while doing math (Example: taking 35% off of the sale price) while keeping the pacifier off the floor and the preschooler from pulling shirts off of racks - she deserves credit! It is no small task to tackle!

We don't necessarily have to fight the masses for a deal to please God - but we do have to be wise and consider it as something we should work hard to do well. Laziness in this area will bring the family disaster.

So keep it up!!!
Love you,
Courtney
