Good Morning Girls Update

I am excited to share with you a Good Morning Girls Update for the Winter Session. If you are not familiar with what this is here's the short definition: The "Good Morning Girls" is a title for a group of women who use email to keep each other accountable for their quiet times. Each weekday morning they email each other to say "Good Morning" and to share what they read during their quiet time with the Lord. For a more detailed version read here.

Pictured on the right is my group - we have been emailing each other daily for nearly 3 years! These ladies are truly gems to my spiritual life! Currently there are 45 Good Morning Girls Groups! There are around 350 women involved! I am just esctatic to see this many women holding each other accountable! You women ROCK!

So I have to share a story and some pictures. First I received this email THIS WEEK!

**Dear Courtney,
I just wanted to pass on this encouragement to you!! I emailed you about 3 weeks ago when I started a Good Morning Girls group at our church with 12 other women. We are in Jackson, MS and our church is Bellwether (http://www.blogger.com/www.bellwetherchurch.org). The first Good Morning Girls did so well that other women approached me. I'm the head pastor's wife. I opened it up to other women in our church, and now we have 43 women participating in Good Morning Girls! I just want to thank you for inspiring me to pursue this in our church!
Signed - Linda
Linda later shared with me that they divided their group into 3 with a maximum of 16 in each group. I am just overjoyed to hear what God is doing in this church!

Next I have received some pictures - hooray! I love to see all of your smiling faces - so please keep sending them! Here's a group from the state of Washington below! Their smiles are gorgeous!
And here's a group from my neck of the woods - Akron, Ohio! It looks like they enjoyed a night out with each other.
For photos of more groups and more information - page down here. God is doing great things and though our session began January 15th it is never to late to begin your accountability group. If you have a group - you can start today - just follow the instructions here. If you would like to start a group in the future we will have summer sign-ups April15th -May 15th. I hope you will join us!

Courtney,

I love the idea of using email to encourage each other to keep our quiet times with God. And I'm thinking over the idea of perhaps joining. One thing I'm not sure of though is whether it is linked to the message board? I saw the sign up thread from January on there, so am I right in assuming you only use the messageboard to sign up and tell of your group, and only email those in your group each day, and not that you report back to the messageboard?

Susan,

Great questions!

The first step is to create a group by inviting some of your friends to join you. Once you have a group created please "sign up" on the message board - by leaving your first name, city and state and the number of girls in your group.

Then you begin to email your group privately. You do not need to report back to the message board.

I had planned to put out tips and challenges on the board but in the midst of the move to my new home I have failed to be regular on that!

Hopefully during the summer session I'll do better with that!

Thankyou for explaining. I wasn't too sure if it was like the LPM blog Bible study groups, where your group reports back.
Thanks, I get it now :-)

Suzel - we would LOVE to have you - we have women from Australia, England and Africa participating! That's what's so great about technology - it connects us to our sister's in Christ around the world!

Much love,
Courtney

Courtney, SO exciting! I am jumping up and down with you in my heart :) So often "new technologies" can be scary for some, and the enemy always wants new ways to do evil things, but THIS is a great example of how God can use anything yielded to Him for His glory. I am rejoicing with you for your opportunity to be used to start the spark!

Just 5 days in, my Oregon group is thriving and we're all so encouraged in our walks with the Lord! This is such a great accountability tool. I am thankful for your perseverance in ministering to women in this unique way. :)
