Recognizing Joy as a Weary Mom - Feed Back Friday

Are you a weary mom? I must confess I have many days that I am. Do you have days where you wonder - will my children ever rise and call me blessed as Proverbs 31:28 says?! Oh the children have risen me in the night with wet beds and have risen up against me in anger - but during weary days the dream being a super mom or of my children praising me fades. But then I sit and ponder the blessings of being a mom.

Have you recognized the joy of being a mom? I know one day the theme song of Sesame Street will play and my children will no longer come running. I know a day will come when I sing this little light of mine and they'll be too cool to put their finger up and sing with me. I know a day will come when spaghettios just will not do for lunch. My daughter brings me babies to feed and rock regularly and it can get in the way of what I am trying to accomplish - but someday those wore out dolls will be packed up in a trash bag and left by the street. Have I taken time to enjoy these moments that God has given me - these blessings? There has been so much joy in this season and yet at times I've been too weary to recognize it.

So weary moms - let's take time today to recognize the blessings and joys we have right now from being moms. Don't try to look ahead to better days - enjoy today! It's "Feedback Friday" - let's take a minute to build each other up and encourage each other - you are not alone! Share one thing you love about being a mom or one thing you would say to a weary mom.

And don't forget to encourage the weary dads this Father's Day!!! Daddies get tired too! I highly recommend you take the time to list 10 things you appreciate about your husband for Father's Day this Sunday. Every dad needs to hear these things. I know he'll enjoy it more than another tie!

I'll go first!!!

Galatians 6:9 is my life verse and it says "Do not grow weary in doing good, for in due season you will reap a harvest IF you do not give up."

We must not give up - we must be patient because in time we will reap a harvest - a beautiful harvest of godly children - if we do not give up! Stick to it mommies! And lean hard on Jesus for strength!

I know my oldest, Chase is at that stage of being too cool for certain things... luckily I have learned to take an interest in things he likes... like skateboarding video games, guitar hero, hanging out eating... things like that... but no longer can I could with him and read a book at night, etc. I still do have Courage though, who is 8 and not too cool yet... I don't know what will happen when he gets there!!!!

We should remember that bringing up our children the way they should go and teaching them about the LORD God is our goal.

We only have children for a limited amount of time, so as weary as we get, it's only for a short time.

"We will not conceal them from their children,
But tell to the generation to come the praises of the LORD,
And His strength and His wondrous works that He has done."
Psalm 78:4

Melodie-

That's a good idea- becoming interested in the things your children enjoy so that you can keep a bond even as they grow older.

Your younger son's name is courage? I like that!

I love being able to comfort my children when they are scared or sad. They just crawl into my arms and it feels so good to hold them.

I also love praying for their future wives (I have 3 boys). They always giggle but I pray and remind them that the most important human relationship they will ever have is with their wife.

This is so where I am today! It's been a long week!

So, I am keeping this short so I can go cuddle with my daughter and watch Word World. :)

One thing I LOVE: hearing the kids giggle together. I love that they just laugh infectiously with each other and don't know why!

Enjoying their way of growing, learning and understanding. How they become the person they are called to be. I don't know if you like links in the comments, but I wrote a post called 'The Joy Of A Child In The House' and it really sums up what I love about being a parent - although I have to stop and remind myself sometimes to look at situations differently. It's always a choice.

Thanks Courtney! As we're well into summer break I've been starting to feel weary at times, I must admit. I love the "break" but sometimes it feels like the work doubled :-) I don't take lightly the blessings of being a mom and esp. being able to stay home, but my choice of attitude still remains. I used to think that "someday" it will just come natural (to feel all pleasant all the time and to be the sweet joyful mom I long to be)... well I once again have to admit that it doens't always and I have to go to Christ each day (morning) and seek Him! I realize that's His desire to keep us close to Him. He doesn't just change us and send us on our way! :-)
