Does Your Husband Trust You?

Word Filled Wednesday: Proverbs 31:11 "Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value."

3 years ago, my husband had a year where he traveled for business extensively. I remember reassuring him that I could handle our then, 3 and 1 year old, just fine while he was gone. Though I was tempted to cry to him on the phone because of my longing for him, I wanted to support his business dreams. I freed him by giving him full confidence that I could manage the home and make wise decisions with the children while he was gone. It was not an easy time for me but this verse was my inspiration.

Proverbs says when a man has full confidence in his wife he lacks nothing of value. That means this character quality is of supreme importance. A husband who has a wife who is solid emotionally and spiritually can rest on his wife's steady support.

Can your husband trust you in these areas?
1. Money - Can he depend on you to spend it wisely?

2. Children - Can he trust you to train your children wisely?
3. Home - Can he trust you to run an orderly home?
4. Reputation - Can he trust you to not speak poorly of him behind his back?
5. Faithfulness - Can your husband trust you to not build emotional connections with other men?
6. Emotions - Can your husband trust you to be self-controlled when under pressure?
7. Choices - Can your husband trust you to make wise choices when urgent situations arise?

No one is perfect, we all make mistakes and I certainly have not always made the wisest choices. But I am striving to be a Proverbs 31 woman and the Proverbs 31 woman is a woman whose husband has full confidence in her. Does your husband have full confidence in you? If not, what areas can you change in your own life so you can gain this character quality?

Commit these areas to prayer and Walk with the King!

Thanks for this post Courtney. Sometimes I need a good reminder about the kind of wife my husband needs. I want my husband to have full confidence in me so that he doesn't have to worry about doing his job and mine too. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for the reminder this morning. Honestly, right before I read this I was getting ready to e-mail my husband and complain about how tired I am with taking care of two little ones and being pregnant but your post was such a good reminder for me. My husband is out working for our family and he would be home with us if he could. He needs my encouragement, not my complaining! I think I will send a different kind of e-mail now!

Very encouraging! I absolutely love this verse & the whole chapter...I strive to be that woman. I remember when my husband first deployed to Iraq & it was before we had kids...I was 20 years old & I thought I was going to fall apart but I really learned to turn back to God & rely on him...7 months later he returned & we were stronger because of it! His next deployment wasn't any easier. Our son was 8 months old & I found out I was pregnant (on b/c) & knew he was deploying. I was such a mess...I wasn't ready to be pregnant & didn't know how I was going to raise our son & our daughter with him in Iraq. All I could do was pray...it was such a good experience for me & I learned how strong God has truly created me to be. I can't explain how amazing it was to have my husband on the phone during my c-section & us hearing her first cries together, it's not what I ever pictured a perfect delivery to be...but it was perfect for us! He returned home when our daughter was 3 months old & our son was 20 months old. It was so wonderful to see him meet his little girl for the first time & for our son to remember who he was after 7 months. I was so afraid he would forget who his Daddy was...but he didn't, not at all! Now we're preparing for our 3rd deployment which is 13 months this time & it hit me pretty hard the other day, & the tears just started coming. Our son (2 1/2 now) has Obstructive Sleep Apnea & was supposed to have surgery, some of his blood work came back & they thought he had Von Willebrand Disease, so he had to have more testing which included an x-ray, more blood & a CT scan, he has enlarged lymph nodes on his neck & they thought that it was Lymphoma the scan came back clear, NO CANCER but his blood came back that he didn't have VWD but he tested positive for Lupus Anticoagulant, he has to be retested in April. We've been going through all this since November 09' & some days I just feel a mess...I'm so emotionally drained & the only reason I get through some days are because of my faith in God. I'm really praying it all gets figured out before my husband deploys again. I know everything happens for a reason & either way my son has a purpose in life & he will change others lives! Thank you for posting this...it reminds me to be a woman, wife & mother my husband & God can be proud of! I WILL NEVER GIVE UP!!!

Thanks Courtney, I really needed to hear this. For the last two years my husband has been traveling a lot for his job. And lets just say it's looking like 2010 is not going to be an different. I've already been working on this issue but after the call I just received I reall needed a refresher course. See, my husband (who is currently driving home from an out of town trip)just called to let me know he has to fly out again first thing in the morning. So thanks for the refresher.

Wow, this was powerful. Thank you. I need to work harder on several of these areas. Like several women commented, my husband is gone quite a bit (fire fighter and 2nd job) providing for us so that I might stay at home. Shame on me for making his "job" as provider even more difficult when I whine about how he is "never" home with us!

Something to read and pray on for sure,

Valerie
