Let God Help You

Psalm 46:1 "God is our refuge and strength, a helper who is always found in times of trouble."

But practically speaking... what does that mean? HOW does He help us when the baby is sick and the floors are filthy and we haven't slept in 48 hours and we don't have help to cook meals. It's one "theme" I haven't understood as a Christian.
Also, "give it to God" is another one. How do you do that? How do you block the pain or problems out of your mind and "give" it to Him???
Hmmmmmmmm

Great reminder, Courtney ... I do understand what Anonymous is struggling with. It is so hard to put it into practice. For me I guess, I've learned to not put such unrealistic expectations on myself. I try to let go what doesn't really NEED to be done and then just pray that God gives me the strength and the energy and the human help I need to get through those really stressful seasons. It is a constant process of relying on Him from moment to moment to give me what I need. It is so hard. You are not alone in that struggle to figure out how to let go, Anonymous.

I enjoy your blog, I have been reading it each day for some time now, I find it speaks to me in so many ways. God is using you to minister to others.

I know that when you are in the midst of so much, as anonymous seems to be right now, it is difficult to understand how God is helping us. But when we truly seek Him, we will begin to see Him work in our lives. Look for those ways, it may be in something as simple as someone offering you a bit of encouragement, but it is there. Praying for you anonymous, I know this is a difficult time for you. God uses all things in our lives to strengthen us.

Dear anonymous,
Thank you for asking this heart felt question. Practically speaking what does this look like? When the pot is boiling over, the babes are crying and you have a headache. You cry out to God - literally in prayer. My children are familiar with these prayers.

Many times too numerous to count - I have sat the children down in the midst of chaos and said - "today is a bad day, we must all pray". We go to our strong tower and refuge immediately.

Often times, God uses that moment of coming to him to calm my anxious thoughts, give me peace, and clarity of mind. And every now and then something miraculous happens - like a friend calls and says just the right words to encourage me - when they had no idea I was so discouraged, or my husband offers to take the kids to Home Depot with him (yahoo!!! 60 minutes of solitude!), or a song comes on that touches me.

Practice the presence of God in your life snd though your outer circumstances won't change, you will experience inner strength, peace and joy.

Much Love,
Courtney

Dear anonymous,i feel you i had a down day today! I just began to praise God and remember his goodness and love through worship and asked God to sgive me a word and not only did i feel better but my husband encouraged me with the right words.
Another thing i do to give things to God is to write all my worries down either on paper or in my phone.
I then say that God cares for me and that i am giving Him my troubles and i delete the message or rip it the paper and i really feel i have lirerally given the problem. Hope that encourages you.Just remember you are not alone.(Sorry for the essay) God Bless :D
