God's Presence and Footprints in the Sand

Every day I sign my blog - "Walk with the King!" This is my single hearts passion - to walk with God Almighty - the King of Kings! I think that in the mundane tasks of daily life we can lose sight of the presence of God.

Though we cannot see God he is there - this is what faith is - Hebrews 11:1 says "Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see." I just explained to my daughter at bedtime last week, that God is like the wind - though we cannot see the wind - we know it is there - we can feel it and see effects from it. God is the same - we cannot see him but we can feel his presence, see answered prayers and experience the blessings of his work in our lives.

Do you recognize God's hand in your life? Do you see that he has taken care of you in intimate ways that sometimes you don't even recognize? Have you taken for granted that your heart is beating this morning, that there is food in the refrigerator, clean water to drink and warm blankets to sleep under? Do you complain about your overflowing laundry baskets, messy toy boxes or the weight you have gained since having your last baby? This is evidence of God's blessings - he has abundantly blessed you with clothing, toys and food! I can't get over the blessing of the computer I type on right now!!! Oh - may we never take for granted the presence of God and his grace in our lives!

I'm assuming that most readers will have read this poem before. The poem Footprints in the Sand reminds me of God's presence. I actually remember the first time I read this poem as a little girl. My older sister Jennifer was cross stitching this poem over and over to give to relatives for Christmas. In the course of the time that she sat and stitched, I remember reading it over and over. This poem clearly explained the picture of intimacy that we have with God when we walk with Him. Today remember when times are tough - to cling to Jesus - Walk with the King - let him carry you.

Footprints in the Sand

One night a man had a dream.
He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the LORD.

Across the sky flashed scenes from his life.
For each scene he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand:
one belonging to him, and the other to the LORD.

When the last scene of his life flashed before him,
he looked back at the footprints in the sand.
He noticed that many times along the path of his life
there was only one set of footprints.

He also noticed that it happened at the very
lowest and saddest times in his life.
This really bothered him and he
questioned the LORD about it:

"LORD, you said that once I decided to follow you,
you'd walk with me all the way.
But I have noticed that during the most
troublesome times in my life,
there is only one set of footprints.

I don't understand why when
I needed you most you would leave me."
The LORD replied: "My son, my precious child,
I love you and I would never leave you.
During your times of trial and suffering,
when you see only one set of footprints,
it was then that I carried you."
