Bible Memorization

If you are like most Americans you are in the process of losing your December - holiday weight gain. You may be using a few different methods - maybe you are cutting back on sweets, salty snacks or carbs. Maybe you are going for walks or joined an aerobic class or maybe you are eating smaller portions. One way or another you are focusing on your body.

Paul instructs Timothy in 1 Timothy 4:8: "For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come." It is so important that we not only focus on our bodies - but our minds! And a great way to start the new year is with a "memory verse challenge"!

Beth Moore has started a Memory Verse Challenge for 2009 and I have to pass it along to all of you.

Beth Moore has a blog where she and her daughters regularly write about their daily lives. Back in December she announced that she will be doing a "memory verse challenge" where she challenges women to memorize 2 verses a month. Last week she posted a blog with great tips on how to memorize God's word - so even if you don't join the challenge listen here as she gives you a "scripture memory mini-tutorial"

Here's what you need to do if you'd like to join:

First sign up to the challenge by clicking here.

Then you purchase a set of note cards or a notebook where you will store your verses for the year.

Then on the 1st and 15th of every month, go to her blog and write in the comments section what verse you are memorizing for those two weeks. And she will give you encouragement, inspiration and accountability.

She has over 3,900 women already participating! This is a great tool to utilize! So join in the fun and blessings of the Bible Memorization Challenge!

Psalm 119:11 declares: "I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you."

Walk with the King!

Thanks for your comments about reading through the Bible. My plan is not as flexibl as yours! I'm about a week behind at this point. Best of luck to you in your memorization endeavor.

I Love Love Love this Scripture Memorization from Beth Moore. I just posted on my blog about this first Scripture and what it has revealed to me.
