Forgive Your Husband

I apologize for the shaky camera work . My 7 year old son was my camera man and the first take was shakier than the second - so we went with the second lol!

Matthew 18:21 and 22 says "Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, "Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?" Jesus answered, "I tell you, not seven times, but seventy seven times."

Stop poisoning your marriage! Forgive your husband today!

This is a wonderful post for me today. I do have a hard time remembering this and am struggling to show my husband grace.
Thanks so much for posting this.

Thank you for this. I totally needed it today. Just last night, I literally dreamed that my husband had hurt me tremendously. I'm sure it was due to yesterdays sermon at church, compounded with pain (from him) that it brought up from the past. I actually woke up in the middle of the night in with tears and anger. The nightmare was so real that I wanted to wake him up and just cry "How could you!". After laying there for about 10 minutes "stewing" over it, he awoke and rolled over and pulled me close to him...almost instantly making all the "bad feelings" go away. I needed to hear this today. Thanks.

Thanks for your blog today. I also watched the video clip of you on the Rachael Ray Show. You're an inspiration to me. I want the same thing, but my body and my mind rebel against that desire to be those things for my husband. Our house is rarely very clean and it's cluttered...eck! I don't always have supper ready and it's not always scrumptious (or served at the table). How do you do it!?! You even try to look nice before he gets home! Wow.
I also homeschool and have three children. I would love to have more structure and discipline in my life. Thank you so much for showing me a successful model. I'm not sure I've ever had one shown to me before, really.

Thanks for the reminder once again Courtney! This poison has been our marriage before but with God's grace it has been over come to a point there is no more holding grudges. Forgiving is hard but knowing what Jesus did for us on the cross is worth it every time we forgive because Jesus did it for all of us no matter what we have done, we can do it too!

Be blessed

Sonya

What a great analogy! Unforgiveness truly is a poison to our marriages and our lives.

I think many people hold tight to their unforgiveness, because they feel that it puts them in a power position, or because they are afraid or angry, or just don't want to be hurt again, so they build up a wall of protection.

Being the victim and holding something over someone's head can make them feel powerful, and gives them a sense of control.

To forgive is to lose that "control" and to give someone else the power to hurt you. What they don't realize is harboring unforgivness is what really hurts you, and forgiving frees you up.

Thank you for sharing this and linking up today! Walking with the King!

Okay...honestly it sounds like I'm just re-commenting what others have already said on here, but BOOOY was this timely for me today. Thank you for being a willing and open vessel for the Lord to speak through, Courtney. You are such a blessing to us. Love and blessing to you, friend!

This is really a theme for today ;) Melanie Chitwood is the first link for Marriage Mondays today, and she also posted about forgiveness. We must need to refocus our hearts in this area ... yes? It's so true that unforgiveness can be a poison in our marriages. And the awful thing about poison ivy that you should be ready for ... it is hard to kill! Just like unforgiveness, it comes back repeatedly. :)

Thanks for linking up to Marriage Mondays today, Courtney!

Thanks for all you do at your website. I listened to your testimony recording this morning and it really touched me. I see how we (wives, mothers, homeschoolers) CAN have a ministry right at home. God DOES use us everyday. What you are doing here is a real blessing. Thank you so much. Hugs!

I often realize that God places things right when I need them...I watched this and a couple of hours later understood why I needed to read/view it. Forgive is such a hard verb to practice.

Thank you, Courtney, for posting these videos on practical advice for being a Proverbs 31 wife. I'm currently single and praying to God to bring me a good Christian man to marry. Before I became a Christian, I thought the woman had to be the head of the household, but when I became a Christian, slowly but surely the Bible has convicted me of the truth of a lot of "old-fashioned" wisdom that it offers. For example, a gentle answer turns away wrath. Your videos remind me of the advice that Laura Ingalls's mother gave her. Very wise and effective - but scoffed at by today's secular society. Please continue to shine brightly and joyfully for this world. I, for one, am very grateful and look forward to continue learning so I can be a Proverbs 31 wife too!
