Within the first year of our marriage my husband requested Beans and Dogs. I said "Beans and what?" He explained that his mom made this bean dish with hot dogs cut up into it and I thought - sounds easy enough to me AND it's a kid pleaser! Since then it's become the dish I always make on an evening when I am not going to be home to serve dinner to the family. This is easy and I always serve it with bread and butter (and sometimes apple sauce - all kid pleasers!) So here's a quick simple dish for a night when you are in a hurry or can't be home.
Beans and Dogs Ingredients:
2 cans of baked beans
5 hot dogs sliced (I use the Fat Free ones)
1/4 cup of brown sugar
2 to 3 slices of onion chopped
A dab of mustard
Mix it all together and cook it at 350 degrees for 30-45 minutes (until hot, bubbly and it's thickened up a little.)
Enjoy! I am participating in Tempt Your Tummy Tuesday, Dining With Debbie , Balancing Beauty and Bedlam and Tuesdays at the Table recipe exchanges. For more blogger recipes go to these links.

Definitely something my hubby and kids would love! ;)
ReplyDeleteI grew up on "beans and weiners", too! I still love them....my husband and kids-well, unfortunately, not so much! =( But, I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one that loves this combo!
ReplyDeleteOh that sounds awesome! Easy dish as well!

How simple to do but kicked up a notch to make extra yummy. I will have to try this for my family. Thanks for sharing. Today is my first time at Tuesday at the Table. My offering is for the Best Ever Banana Bread. I hope you stop by to try it. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteOn the comfort food list. :)Look for the Budding Beef where the pre-packaged lunchmeats are hanging up in the cold storage section ... not far from the hot dogs for your recipe. :)
ReplyDeleteOh I bet my kids would love that. Looks like the perfect thing to make for lunch sometimes.
