My Mini Faith Crisis - Does God Hear My Prayers?

Years ago, I had a faith crisis. I questioned if God was really hearing my prayers.  God spoke to me through his word and here's what he said:

Psalm 139:17,18
"How precious to me are your thoughts, O God!
How vast is the sum of them!
If I would count them,
they are more than the sand.
I awake, and I am still with you."

As I emptied my suitcases from vacation, I found 100's of grains of sand stuck in the corners of the suitcase and inside of shoes. Memories of reading Psalm 139 on the beach wrapped around me like a warm blanket - comforting me.

I am on God's mind.

You are on God's mind.

Bask in this truth today!

  1. Oh my goodness, thank you for this very encouraging message, Courtney. And I had to smile at the MANY ways in which God wants us to know He cares, since it appeared that you were holding your own camera to film this message for all of us. You, my friend in Christ, are SUCH a dear!
    Blessings,
    Toni
p.s. the sound of the waves was LOVELY (and okay, I might have coveted JUST a little, lol.)

  5. I felt this today Courtney.
I started this day feeling awful (allergies + sick) with no hope of a nap in sight, but God prompted a kiddo to take our older kids and our little one napped so I could get rest. He heard my unspoken needs. Thanks for this great post!

  6. ...oops...prompted a FRIEND.
No--I did not leave our children with another child.
    Wow.
Seriously still in need of some good sleep and need to cut back on the Dimetap.
But--you get the point--He knew what I needed.

  11. Really needed these words this morning, thank you!

Saw your fb post that you had to take down a pic of you and hubby (REALLY?!). Can you use a photo editor and blur out the logo so you can still use the pic and not offend anyone?

If you'd like me to give it a try, feel free to email it to me at momkaboodle at gmail.com. (It should just take me a few minutes, I truly don't mind).

  18. I would use this verse with my campers and youth group kids. We'd lick our fingers and swipe the floor with them, collecting sand (and dirt!) I would tell them to count them. They'd say, are you kidding?! And then we'd walk through the lakeshore, all the lakeshores in MN, the oceans, and the sand underneath them. We'd read Psalm 139, and God would move.

Thanks for the reminder of why my favorite verse is my favorite.=)

  20. This is one of those things that is too difficult to understand. It's a faith thing.
Been a difficult year so-far and can't shout my prayers loud enough.
Lord, forgive my weakness and lack of faith!
    Thanks, Courtney,
    ~HJ

I LOVE hearing from my readers and I pray for you all regularly. I try to respond to questions in the comment section as quickly as I can - within 1-3 days.

Due to an overflowing email inbox and the desire to keep my husband, children and home first priority in my life, I am no longer able to answer personal emails at this time. I apologize.
