The Academy Awards are this weekend.
It's the famous ones who walk the red carpet.
It's the honored ones who walk the red carpet.
It's the beautiful ones who walk the red carpet.
It's the talented ones who walk the red carpet.
It's the wealthy ones who walk the red carpet.
It's the gifted ones who walk the red carpet.
And I...I am about to walk the red carpet!
Every morning, I walk the red carpet right up to my sink where I rinse the morning dishes.
I am honored to have a husband and children to take care of.
I am beautiful in the eyes of the Lord, living out his will for my life as a wife and mother.
I am wealthy on the red carpet, for many in the world do not have a sink with running water in their kitchen.
I am gifted on the red carpet - gifted with the riches of God's grace that come through my faith in Christ Jesus his son.
There is no greater honor than the red carpet walk I do every morning in my kitchen.
Join me, as you step up to your kitchen sink - in welcoming a joy that the world cannot understand.
My red carpet is...
A GIFT.
Thank you sweet Jesus for delighting me with this gift!

Courtney--amazing! Sometimes we can forgive it is such a blessing to be a homemaker! Thank God for giving me my 2 blessings and a husband that will support his family. Sometimes, I do take it forgranted...thanks for reminding me.
ReplyDeleteWonderful! I have a red carpet in front of my sink too! I never made that connection before! Now I will do so every time I stand on it. :)

ReplyDeleteOur Simple Country Life
Good story! Love it!
ReplyDeleteThank you Courtney for this wonderful validation of the work homemakers do. Its really easy to feel like what you do is unimportant when the world doesn't value your contribution. I love your visual tools... and I'm off to buy myself a red carpet too.. just so I can remind myself everyday how beautiful, blessed and important I am! ;-) Love & Blessings to you

Love it, Courtney! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI LOOOOVE this post!! I might just have to print this one out!
ReplyDeleteGreat post!
ReplyDeleteJust today I was thinking, before turning on the computer, that I am the ONLY 30-ish SAHM in my son´s class. That was an odd feeling. All other moms are working women. I know it´s God´s will for me to be here: at home. But still, sometimes it´s difficult to deal with day by day. And you tend to forget why are you doing it and hte IMPORTANCE of it! God chose us to do these because he trust in us! And that is a lot!! So thank you Courtney for your beautiful post today!
ReplyDeleteThat brought tears to my eyes! I walk "the red carpet" everyday too! I wouldn't trade it for the world!
ReplyDeleteLove that perspective, you honored one you! :-) Me too... I will remember that today.
ReplyDeleteShannon in Indiana <><
Wow, this is beautiful. As I was reading the first few lines, I started to slump (literally). I was thinking, "I'm not wealthy...I'm not beautiful...I'm not honored.....
ReplyDeleteI think I'll have to buy a red carpet for in front of my kitchen sink now. :)
Love you!
This message was soooo vivid to me since we stood outside the Kodak Theater just this past September. Like you, I consider it an enormous blessing to be at home caring for my family full time. I was one of those women who thought it wasn't possible, that we couldn't afford to do it, but God (through my husband) showed me it in fact WAS possible. I really LOVE how you put the spin on this, that we should not miss our own red carpet walk. And the best part is, it's not a once a year event for us. ;-)
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Toni
I love this.
ReplyDeleteIt is all about perspective and believe me hollywood or new york is NOT the place to be. In your home creating and molding little people is far more important than 'acting'.
Thanks you Courtney! Lately I have been forgetting what a blessing it is to be a Christian and this had helped reveal that sin. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteLove that you are humble enough to post a picture of yourself in your jammies. :) Thanks for the encouragement today, and thanks for hosting the linky party. :) Blessings to all! ~Lisa
ReplyDeleteLOVE THIS!! :)
ReplyDeleteThis inspired me to go buy a red carpet for my kitchen! :)

Second try -- forgive me if this goes through twice. I got a "service unavailable" message the first time.
ReplyDeleteI love this. We are truly honored to be where we are doing what we do.
This is my first time to link up -- I saw the link on a friend's blog. I'm looking forward to reading more.
Great way to look at your day.

ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet perspective on our jobs as homemakers! When we realize it is not about us being in the spotlight but instead about being blessed to have families to serve we can be joyfilled. Thank you for your blog - I read it often and am always encouraged!

ReplyDeleteI just realized that I have a red carpet in front of my sink, too. Never thought about that before....
