I love these silk flower headbands that my friend Kelly (pictured below) made for Alexis. So when we were on a retreat, I took a photo of her making one!
First you buy some silk flowers and plain headbands at Target (they came 5 in a pack for around $3)

Then you remove the stem and take the flower apart. Then you hot glue gun any parts of the flower you want kept together. And you add any little extra frills you'd like. She hot glue gunned shiny rhinestones to each one and then glued the flower to the headband. Here is my Alexis sporting her new silk flower headband and messy bun(click here for a tutorial on how to do a messy bun).Have a great weekend! We are expecting a missionary family as overnight guests for the weekend! The kids are excited! Missionaries are my heroes!!!
Do you also hot glue the flower onto the band, or did I miss something in the directions?
ReplyDeleteLove this idea! Might have to try this!!
ReplyDeleteOops! Andrea - YES - you glue the flower to the headband - I just fixed that in the post - sorry about that oversight :-)!

So pretty, thank you for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteI have silk flowers on hand from my scrapbooking supplies. I'm going to take this a step further and attempt to crochet the headbands. Thanks for the instructions, Courtney. Wish me well. ;)

p.s. Our homeschool curriculum (My Father's World) has a heavy missions focus. Love that you're hosting a family. If privacy isn't too much of an issue, would love to hear how your weekend went.
Just a suggestion, but you can also glue the flower to a single prong alligator clip or even a french barrette, then clip it to the headband. This way you can also use it to clip directly onto her hair if you want her to have a hair style w/o the headband. I did that with all of my baby's bows and flowers and once she got old enough to pull her hair back in the little rubber bands, I could still use my bows without having to make a bunch of new ones.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! Love it! Enjoy your weekend with Missionaries!!! They are my heroes too!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a blessing!!!

I really enjoy your blog,I hope that more women could serve and bring honor to the Lord as you do. :-D It is a blessing to see other women putting the Lord and their family ahead of the things of the world. I hope that I can be a Christ honoring wife and mother someday as well. :-) God Bless and I have enjoyed stopping by!
