For years I've warn a head band or pony tail on days when I didn't have time to fix my hair. But I discovered this messy bun this winter and have found it to be a nice quick way to pull myself together on days when I have no time for fixing my hair. So I thought I'd teach you my trick if you are looking for some up-do ideas!

Messy buns are one of my favorite ways to do my hair! very practical:) I love your videos!
ReplyDeleteI don't even have enough care to cover my hair band, but I enjoyed your video! Just your smile and motivation is enough to make me smile. Much love and prayers to you today.

Your adorable Courtney, and my goodness what a gorgeous house you have!!
ReplyDeleteI do this all the time for my daughter.. I love the way it comes out. Thanks for sharing! If you happen to have any other cute hair tricks.. please share. I'm always looking for cute new "do's" for My Girl.

Courtney, I'm a "short hair," but my daughter has very long, thick, wavy hair and I'd like to try on her. What kind of "pins" do you find work best? She only wears ponytails or a long braid so I'd like to try this! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI loved the video. My hair is a little shorter then yours, but I just watched this in my bathroom (I love my new laptop lol) & made the attempt. I was successful and it looks awesome! Thanks so much! Your house is beautiful by the way & your kids are too adorable! I love that your son was videotaping it for you!!! God bless you and yours!!!
ReplyDeleteP.S Your energy & enthusiasm is contagious! I cant help but smile after having seen that video :) Thanks!!1
Thank you so much for the messy bun tutorial. What a cute and fun way to look put together. I wanted to let you know that our GMG group just started and it has blessed my life so much. Thank you for your site to encourage us women!
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Angie
Thanks guys! I'm glad to share it! Anonymous - I use the half sized bobby pins - they are about an inch and a half long - they hide well :-)!
ReplyDeleteCourtney
I do this almost every day, LOL! BUT I never thought of putting the bobby pins in to hide the band or even adding a cute barrette or bow! I will have to try these!
ReplyDeleteCute!! I'll remember that if I ever decide to grow my hair out again!! Have a great weekend!! =)
ReplyDeleteVery cute, Courtney! I love how FAST it was to do, even for your really long hair. The flower was a cute idea, too.
ReplyDeleteWe'll be giving this one at try at our house - thanks for the video :-)
Have a great weekend!
Love it! Thanks for the tip! :)
ReplyDeleteSweet, thank-you!! You are so lovely!
ReplyDeleteYou are so cute! I love your little model and video taker as well! :-)

I do this all the time. I works really well when you have curly hair too- looks "extra messy" :-)
I just found my way to your blog today and I was soooo blessed by my visit! God knew just where to send me to give me a much-needed pick-me-up :)
ReplyDeleteI will be a very frequent visitor - thanks for all your work - your love and spirit shine through so well!
You're so neat. You kind of seem like a blogger celebrity to me, but there you are inviting me into your bathroom to show me your messy bun! How cool and humble and fun is that! I'm almost sorry that I cut my hair off (I asked you questions about your hot roller do a while back) but my shorter do is nice for now and when it gets long again I'll try out the messy bun.
ReplyDeleteYou have a very charming little camera man too. What a great job he did. He's so still and steady, he almost blended in with the wall!
Thanks for your blogging ministry. What a blessing it is to me.
Thanks so much for the messy bun video! I have worn this hairdo every day since :o)
ReplyDeleteVery pretty!!
ReplyDeleteI love your bathroom too! :)
Courtney,
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting this video. I often do the first part of pulling my hair up through the ponytail but never thought to hide the band using bobby pins, etc. Awesome! My daughter does ballet so I know how to do the classical ballet bun but it is so time consuming. This is great for when we are in a rush for both of us. :o) Hugs!
Big fan of the messy do! It's a must with young children :-)
ReplyDeleteYou look amazing btw, love this video ;-)
Linked you up in my link list this morning! Loved your video!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful hair, Girl!! Keep it long!
ReplyDeleteWell, I do remember you explaining how you did your hair in an elevator in college. You said each night you put your hair in a pony tail and then put curlers into the ponytail. I was always impressed by your results. Somehow, I had trouble duplicating! But these are some good ideas! My hair is kind of long now (by default, not design!).
ReplyDeleteSarah - I'm not sure which Sarah you are? but this cracks me up! Because you are dead on in remembering this detail! In college I used to put my hair in a high pony tail and then divide my hair into 4-6 sections and roll my hair down into a bun - and voila - in the morning - curls and fullness from the pony tail lol!!! I can't believe you remember that! I've always enjoyed messing with hair - maybe I should have been a beautician - I missed my calling lol!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the memory!
Courtney
Yay! That's how I do mine! Sooo simple, easy and elegant looking! Great tutorial and I love your son videotaping for you! Cute daughter too!
ReplyDeleteGreat video! You're so cute, and your little helpers are adorable too. I think the messy bun is going in my repertoire. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteLooks cute! Thanks for linking up :)!
