ReplyDeleteTHE CONTEST HAS CHANGED! So I'll go first with a favorite organizational tip - I do laundry all in one day. Rather than doing 1-2 loads of laundry a day (which ends up messy for me because laundry baskets seem to always be out). I do one marathon laundry day a week where I set the timer on my oven and every hour switch the clothes. I love having it all done in one day and not having to think about it for a week! This works for me - if you've never done this - you should try it sometime! It's kinda fun!

I tell my kids that upstairs toys/books/games/etc need to stay upstairs and the same goes for downstairs stuff. Tha way, I am not making multipule trips up and down to get things where they belong!

I needed an extra container for holding crayons so my kids wouldn't fight over them (plus, the cardboard boxes they come in are very difficult for a young preschooler to fit all the crayons back in), so I used a couple empty frosting tubs. The tubs are the perfect size to fit crayons that are standing up on end. Now my 4 year old and my 2 year old each have their own box of crayons and it's easy for them to put the crayons back in!
ReplyDeleteWhenever I come home from the grocery store I organize all the cans according to the kind - vegetables etc. and all the boxes according to their kinds. Then I don't have to sort through everything to find what I want.
ReplyDeleteI plan meals two weeks at a time and buy all of the meat and side dishes I need for two weeks based on specials. When I come home from grocery shopping I immediately marinate or cut up the meat and vegetables and put them in the freezer or refrigerator. Then when it comes time for me to cook the meal, half the work is already done! Saves me a lot of time!
ReplyDeleteI am a SAHM of four and I am gearing towards being more organized this year. My one, teeny, tiny space of organization is my schoolroom/office door. I have a huge wall calendar which is color coded with dots, to show our everyday activities. I would be clueless without it.
ReplyDeleteI blogged your Target Gift Card at:

I have four children so laundry is a pretty big part of my life. I purchased 4 tubs (wash basins at the dollar store-the kind you can wash dishes in)and labeled them with everyone's name. Each day as I wash and fold the laundry I put it into the appropriate tub and the kids put away when the we are done with that days laundry. I also put anything that may have been left out during the day in them too then the kids take them to their rooms and put everything away and return their tub to me! My 31/2 year old is even starting to catch on.
ReplyDeleteMy most useful organization tip to me is that I hang my clothes by color and by type, for instance, all blouses together, all sweaters together, all slacks together, all jeans together, etc.
ReplyDeleteHave a Lost and Found Basket...everything in the living room that doesn't live there..goes in...then on Fridays...everything goes to it's rightful home...that way..there isn't just random clutter everywhere....
ReplyDeleteI have my pantry organized with different types of foods grouped separately.

I bought a garment rack for my laundry room. I keep extra hangars on it so when clothes come out of the dryer, I can hang them up right away. No ironing for me :) ej_morrison@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteI cannot live without my folders on my desk. I have them labeled with everything! Coupons - Reciepts for Month/Year - Bills for the month/year - Everything has to be labeled!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance!

i make my husband do the laundry and my kids vacuum; while this is going on I manage to clean and organize the kitchen without them bugging me!
ReplyDeletei organize the bills and paperwork in alphabetical folders and check them every friday and immediately deal with them.
ReplyDeleteI use a lot of the tips from flylady. I do certain areas of the house only on certian days. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteWell, drawers always seem to be a place to just hide things and have no organization, so when I moved into my current home and saw I had two drawers in the bathroom, I knew I needed to come up with a good plan to keep things in order. So, I went to a office supply store and bought little box dividers and sat them in the drawers. One for my makeup, one for toothpaste, floss, ect, one for bandaids, antibiotic cream, ect, and finally one for the prescriptions. This sounds simple enough but has been a great solution for me. No longer do I just throw stuff in them. Everything has its own place.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway.
I open and sort my mail immediately. If I don't it will overtake my counter.
ReplyDeleteMy issue with socks has been deep!
ReplyDeleteI am constantly buying and replacing lost socks. So...I put a bucket by the washer/dryer and any that do not have a match--I stick in this.
Every few weeks...when not much fun is happening in my house....I hand my teens (while they are relaxing or watching tv) this bucket and they go through it and make as many matches as possible.
The one to find the most....gets a little compensation! Maybe a fastfood meal....or a movie pick.
It just helps keep us all in socks!
I get a calendar and add a magnet to the back. Then I hang it on the frig. I look at it everyday to see if there are appointments, gym clothes to bring, band etc. This has saved us so much time and we rarely forget things now.
ReplyDeleteI have my all my kitchen cabinets organized by type of food. I have one cabinet for vegetables and them all up by kind then one line for misc.,I have one cabinet for sides such as macaroni and cheese, stuffing, instant potatoes etc. one for different types of pasta noodles. One for soups and such keeps everything organized for when I am getting low on something I can add it to my shopping list to replace.

I was always frustrated by trying to sort out socks when folding laundry. Everyone has white socks and they all start to look the same when trying to sort them out! So, I started marking the bottoms of the socks with a really small permanant fabric marker dot. Each family member get their own color. I put a green dot on all my socks, hubby gets blue, my daughter get red, and my son gets yellow. This has made sorting socks sooo much easier!
ReplyDeleteLove to have this.
ReplyDeleteThanks,

I love hanging up my clothes in the closet by pants, sweaters, coats, shirts, etc. I feel like I'm organized by doing this and it works well for me and I can find what I need to wear. purposedrivenlife4you (at) gmail (dot) com

Taking 15 mins a day to declutter and throw away junk!

ReplyDeleteI have cleaned out my old magazine corner by going through each mag, cutting out any articles/recipes/ideas i wanted to keep, and placed them in a 3-ring binder. Really helped clear clutter!
ReplyDeleteI like to focus on cleaning one area at a time so that I'm not overwhelmed!
ReplyDeletePosted on my blog!

Someone posted once posted about their husband who numbered socks so they wear evenly. I started that and the socks are easy to match together now, and it is easy to know if one is lost, and my husbands socks last a lot longer!
